Office Policies

​Payment Policies

I am in-network with First Choice Health Network, Premera, Regence, Health Alliance, and Aetna. For Virginia Mason Memorial employees, I am considered Tier 2. If your child is covered under one of these insurance plans, then I will submit claims as a courtesy on your behalf. However, you are responsible for copays, co-insurance and deductibles that apply to your plan and they are expected at the time of service. It is your responsibility to understand your insurance policy. If you receive an unexpected charge that does not seem to match your policy, please call your insurance company. If you further assistance please email Jade Warshel, our off-site biller Jade.Warshel@BillingJDW.com. 


For all other patients, I will be considered out-of-network. For these patients, you will have two options:
  1. You can be assigned the “self-pay/cash pay” designation and will be given a 30% discount for paying at the time of service (see sample cash-pay fee schedule attached). Full payment is expected at the time of service. Rates for out-of-network patients are simplified and discounted because I am not billing your insurance. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted. Barter and trade options are possible. Please speak with me if you are experiencing financial hardship.

    If you would like to bill your insurance for reimbursement or apply the visit to your deductible, I will be happy to provide you with a Superbill. Please ask us for a Superbill.

    Jade Warshel is available to submit claims for patients on their behalf for $7 per claim. If you are interested in this service, please send an email to Jade.Warshel@BillingJDW.com.


  2. I can send claims to your insurance as an out-of-network provider. In this case, I will take all your insurance information and send a claim. However, this will be at the fee schedule that is applied to all insurance payments. Whatever is not covered by your insurance policy, you will be responsible for. You are responsible for understanding your out-of-network benefits. 


Communication Policy

Scheduling Appointments 
New patients must call the office number at (509) 969-6214 or send an email to Jenine@nourishyakima.com. Please remember that email is not a secure way to transmit sensitive personal information. Call early to ensure same-day appointments. 

Established patients may either call the above number, email, or make appointments through the Athena Patient Portal (visit NourishYakima.com/schedule-appointment for a direct link to the portal). However, if the need is urgent and after hours or on the weekend, please contact me via my cellphone (see below).


After-Hours Phone Calls
Established patients with urgent medical needs should call my cell phone for assistance. Please reserve calls to my cell phone for urgent needs. If you are requesting a routine appointment (such as a yearly physical or non-urgent follow-up), forms to be filled out, or other non-urgent questions please call the office number (509) 969-6214, or send an email to DrYami@nourishyakima.com or ​Jenine@nourishyakima.com.​

For life-threatening emergencies: Call 9-1-1 and go to the ER
 For urgent medical needs: If unable to reach Dr. Yami, go to urgent care. 


Texting 
Texting is acceptable for non-emergency situations for established patients during business hours. Texting must take place through a secure texting app called OhMD which can be accessed online or through the app store. This app is HIPAA compliant. However, I would caution against transmitting sensitive information via text. This messaging app has an auto-responder for when I am out of town or unavailable and reminds you to call for urgent matters after hours.

Email
Please be aware that I do not check my email frequently throughout the day or on weekends so responses may take 24-48 hours. Please reserve email for business matters such as scheduling or other non-urgent matters.


​Patient Portal
You will receive an invitation to register for the patient portal for your child through AthenaHealth. This will give you access to certain aspects of your child’s electronic medical record. You can also send non-urgent messages through the portal which will be addressed by the next business day. Patient care summaries for each visit are available through the portal. If you would like printed growth charts please ask Alejandra. 



Forms

There are multiple forms that may require a doctor’s signature. It is preferable that I complete forms during your child’s office appointment. However, I understand that forms may be required at other times when an appointment may not be needed. For me to accurately complete forms, I must have seen your child within the past 11 months. Please plan ahead and allow one week for forms to be completed, as forms will only be completed during business hours.

Late/Missed Appointments and Cancellations

My goal is to start each appointment right on time. I realize your time is also very valuable! If I run more than 10 minutes late for any reason, you may choose a gift from the goody basket to compensate you for your time. I understand that life happens and you may be running late. Please call the office and let me know if you will be late and we can either reschedule your appointment or you can elect to have a shorter appointment time. Please also give me at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Because missing an appointment or give me short notice will prevent me from seeing another child in that time slot, you will be charged $50 for no-shows and late cancellations. If I need to reschedule your child’s appointment for personal reason, I will also give you a minimum of 24 hours notice.

Confidentiality

This office abides by federal privacy regulations and keeps your protected health information (PHI) confidential. Your PHI may be disclosed to plan your treatment or in determining eligibility for coverage or claims processing. You have a right to review and receive a copy of the complete Notice of Privacy Practices which outlines the full policy. This policy is also on our website as Notice of Privacy Practices.
